Cookie Policy
I. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on the user's device (computer, tablet, mobile phone) when they visit that site. Cookies allow the website to remember information about their visit, such as their preferred language or other settings, making the next visit easier and the site more useful.
The GESTEXLINK Platform also uses similar technologies such as browser localStorage to store user preferences (language, cookie consent) without needing to install session cookies.
II. Types of cookies we use
2.1 Technical or strictly necessary cookies
They are essential for the proper functioning of the Platform. They allow navigation and use of basic features. They do not require prior consent under applicable law. Without these cookies, the Platform cannot function properly.
2.2 Analytics cookies
They count visits and traffic sources to measure and improve Platform performance. They help us know which pages are most and least popular and how users move around the site. All information collected by these cookies is aggregated and therefore anonymous. Prior consent is required.
2.3 Marketing or advertising cookies
They display relevant advertising based on user interests. They also
limit how often an ad is shown and measure campaign
effectiveness. Prior consent is required.
GESTEXLINK does not currently install its own marketing cookies.
III. Cookie table
Below are the cookies and storage technologies used by GESTEXLINK:
| Name | Type | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
gestexlink_cookies |
GESTEXLINK (localStorage) | Stores the user's cookie consent preference (accepted / rejected). Not transmitted to the server. |
Persistent (until manually deleted) | |
gestexlink_lang |
GESTEXLINK (localStorage) | Stores the user's selected language (es / en / fr / pt). | Persistent (until manually deleted) | |
_ga |
Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated identifier. Included in each page request and used to calculate visitor, session and campaign data. | 2 years | |
_ga_* |
Google Analytics | Maintains Google Analytics 4 (GA4) session state. | 2 years | |
_gid |
Google Analytics | Distinguishes users. Identifies individual sessions within the same day. | 24 hours |
Note on URL parameters: The ?origin=qr parameter used
to identify visits from QR codes is processed only on the
client side (JavaScript) and does not install any cookie. The
?lang= parameter stores the preference in localStorage, not in a cookie.
IV. Legal basis for processing
The legal basis for processing data through cookies is as follows:
- Strictly necessary cookies: Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) — necessary for the proper functioning of the service requested by the user. No prior consent is required under the exception in Art. 22(2) of the ePrivacy Directive.
- Analytics and marketing cookies: User consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). They will only be installed after explicit acceptance via the cookie banner. Consent may be withdrawn at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
V. Managing your cookie preferences
You may change your cookie preference at any time using the control panel below. Your preferences are stored locally on your device.
